Description of the Subject

Louise Veronica Ciccone was born on August 16, 1958 in Detroit, Michigan. The parents, of Italian origins, gave life to a large family: the singer has four brothers and three sisters. His father worked as a laborer for Chrysler while his mother unfortunately died when Louise Veronica was only six years old.

In the late '70s Veronica Louise moved to New York to work in a dance company, that of Alvin Ailey, in which he managed to enter after a series of auditions.

In the meantime, he does not disdain to round up his income by working as a shop assistant in a fast food chain. Here he meets Dan Gilroy, his future companion for a short time, who not only teaches her to play guitar and drums, with him undertakes a real artistic partnership (the two will write together several songs). To make ends meet, however, he also shoots some B-series movies (such as the scabrous "A certain sacrifice"), and poses nude for men's magazines.

Madonna later worked on some disco tracks with college friend Steven Bray. Some of these songs are programmed in the famous trendy New York club "Danceteria" by DJ Mark Kamins, the same that will produce "Everybody", Madonna's first single. The success of that first song is flattering: so here is soon after the team ready to churn out another title. It is the turn of "Burning Up / Physical Attraction" which, thanks to a contract with Sire Records, takes root in dance circles with great success

Madonna is above all a great and intelligent manager herself, with a great sense of business, so here it is to sign a 60 million dollar contract with Time Warner in 1992 to form her own label, Maverick. With his record company he later published artists such as Alanis Morissette, Prodigy or the Muses.

It is not to be neglected its participation in films of various kinds as an actress. He appears in "Shadows and Fog" by Woody Allen, in "Dick Tracy" alongside Warren Beatty and in the touching "winning girls" by Penny Marshall (1992, starring Tom Hanks and Geena Davis). He even founded his own distribution company, Siren Films. But his character is increasingly at the center of scandals and controversy. An example is the new single "Justify my love" (a disturbing piece written by Lenny Kravitz) with an explicitly erotic video associated with it. The publication of "Sex", a photographic book in which the singer is immortalized in sado-maso, lesbian and provocative attitudes, on the verge of pornography, also provokes a sensation.

Many suspect that behind this fuss and this desire to make people talk about themselves is a commercial operation. Watch case soon the album will come out from the "original" title of "Erotica" (1992). From that year on Madonna has always been on the crest of the wave, now appearing in the film as Evita (Oscar nomination as a leading actress, but only for her interpretation of "You must love me"), now as singer perennially at the top of the charts. Or thanks to the numerous flirts that are periodically attributed to her (in one of these, she has also given birth to two children, Lourdes and Rocco). Her ability to renew herself is remarkable and perhaps from this point of view no artist can compete with her.
